Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 March 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Abundance app, related content, backup features, and support services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms are between you and Ethan Weston and Steve Edwards ("Abundance," "we," "us," or "our"), not Apple or any other app store provider.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
By using the Service, you represent that:
- you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms;
- the information you provide is accurate and current; and
- your use of the Service will comply with applicable law.
2. What Abundance Does
Abundance is a personal budgeting and planning app that helps users:
- record income, expenses, categories, and payment dates;
- review budget progress and financial summaries;
- create future scenarios and planning views; and
- export, import, and optionally back up app data where available.
Abundance is provided for personal informational and organisational purposes only.
3. No Financial, Legal, Tax, or Investment Advice
Abundance does not provide financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, credit, or debt advice.
Any reminders, summaries, forecasts, projections, progress views, or scenario tools are based on the information you enter and are for general informational use only. You remain solely responsible for:
- checking your figures;
- making financial decisions;
- paying bills and obligations on time;
- complying with tax and legal requirements; and
- seeking professional advice where needed.
4. Account and Sign-In
Abundance uses Sign in with Apple for account access.
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the security of your device and Apple account access;
- any activity that occurs through your device or account; and
- notifying us if you believe your access has been compromised.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe your use presents a security risk, violates these Terms, or could harm the Service.
5. Your Data
You retain ownership of the budgeting data, entries, labels, notes, and other information you submit to the Service ("User Data").
You grant us only the limited rights necessary to operate the Service for you, including storing, transmitting, backing up, syncing, exporting, importing, securing, and troubleshooting User Data.
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy of your User Data;
- maintaining your own backups where important; and
- ensuring you have the right to upload or import any content you use in the Service.
6. Backups, Sync, Import, and Export
Abundance may offer import/export and optional backup or sync features, including iCloud-related functionality where supported.
You acknowledge that:
- backup and sync services may depend on Apple or device settings;
- imports may replace or alter existing data;
- exports may contain sensitive financial information; and
- no storage, sync, export, import, or recovery feature is guaranteed to be uninterrupted, error-free, or lossless.
You are solely responsible for safeguarding exported files and reviewing imported data before relying on it.
7. Payment and Refunds
Abundance is a one-time paid app purchased upfront through Apple’s App Store.
All billing, payment processing, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s own terms and policies. We do not process payments directly and do not issue App Store refunds ourselves.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service in violation of any law or regulation;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service or related systems;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, data, system, or network;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where law permits;
- use the Service to transmit malware or harmful code; or
- use the Service in a way that could harm us, other users, or third parties.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and visual elements, is owned by or licensed to us and protected by intellectual property law.
Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from the Service.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on third-party services, including Apple, Sign in with Apple, iCloud, and App Store services.
We are not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or policies. Your use of those services may also be governed by separate third-party terms.
11. Availability and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We may also update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the app or other reasonable means. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- you breach these Terms;
- we are required to do so by law;
- continued operation creates legal, operational, or security risk; or
- we discontinue the Service.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind.
We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and quiet enjoyment.
We do not guarantee that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
- any reminder or notification will be delivered on time or at all;
- any backup, import, export, or sync will succeed without loss or conflict; or
- any calculation, insight, or forecast will be accurate for your circumstances.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, use, or data;
- we are not liable for missed payments, overdrafts, late fees, tax consequences, credit impacts, or financial losses arising from your use of or reliance on the Service; and
- our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) GBP 50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
15. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you have under applicable consumer law in England and Wales or in your country of residence, where such rights cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
